Second Workshop on Improving Communication Skills for International Conferences held at TUFS

On Monday the 4th of February 2019, “English Presentation Tips for Communicating with and Appealing to the Listener”, a workshop aimed mainly at females researchers, was held at TUFS.

This workshop was taught by the president and chief executive officer of Eglobe Inc., Doctor SHIMAMURA Toyoko. As well as publishing books on English presentation through Eglobe Inc., Dr. Shimamura is an English language education researcher who trained her skills through her time in companies, research institutions and public agencies.
Dr. Shimamura spoke powerfully with confidence, and a splash of Kansai dialect, and covered a range of topics including traps native Japanese speakers fall into when presenting in English, and tips on captivating an audience.
The afternoon workshops had participants split into groups to practice their presentations, after which they received advice from Dr. Shimamura and were ultimately able to feel their presentation skills improve.
The five-hour workshop flew by quickly.
